How to Order Cheque Books Through SBI Online Banking?



Finance Guru Speaks: This article will provide you information on how you can request or order Cheque Books through your Online SBI facility. You can request a Cheque book for any of your accounts (Savings, Current, Cash Credit, Overdraft).

You can order for Bearer Cheques or Order Cheques.

Difference between a Bearer Cheque and an Order Cheque:

Bearer Cheque: A person holding the cheque can collect the amount if it is a bearer cheque.

Order Cheque: The payee (i.e. the person in whose favor the cheque is issued) or his authorized person only can collect the amount of the cheque if it is an order cheque.

How To Order Cheque Book in SBI :


1.     Login to SBI Online Banking facility.

 2.     Click on Request & Enquiries Tab and then click Cheque Book request option present on the left-hand side, as shown below:

 3.     Select your Account No. Fill in the details as –

Multi City Option *: Yes
Number of cheque Books * : 1 or 2
Number of cheque Leaves *:  10, 20, 25 or 50
Instrument Sub Category *:  Bearer Cheque or Order Cheque

4.     Click on Submit button

Multi-city cheques are payable at par at all SBI branches.


Current Terms and Conditions shared by SBI for this facility:

  • Multicity Cheques will be issued on your request on the SBI Internet Banking website. If you desire to have a normal cheque book, kindly contact your home branch for the purpose.
  • Charges @ ₹3 per cheque leaf for all Savings Bank accounts having Quarterly Average Balance (QAB) as of the previous quarter end below ₹25,000.
  • Charges @ ₹2 per cheque leaf for accounts having QAB 25000 and above as of the previous quarter end.
  • 50 Leaves free per year for senior citizen/salary accounts and 20 leaves free per year for other P-Segment/AGL Segment customers.
  • As per Bank's policy, only Multicity Cheque Book is available for this account.
  • You can request for a cheque book for any of your accounts (Savings, Current, Cash Credit, Over Draft).

  1. I had done the procces as per instruction but we get a message "CHEQUE BOOK NOT AVAILABLE ON THIS ACCOUNT" please help me for applying check book.

  3. Hi, my SBI account is registered to an address where am not currently staying. Is there an option to request the cheque book to a different address without changing the registered address in the SBI branch? If not, i would like to know if there is process to change the address online.
