How To Close or Cancel Online FD (Fixed Deposit) Account Using SBI Internet Banking?

If yes, then follow the below steps to cancel your FD account through OnlineSBI:-

1.      Login to OnlineSBI website, using your Username, Password, and OTP (if requested).

  2.      Go to Deposit & Investment -> Fixed Deposit, as shown below:-

 3.      Click on Fixed Deposit (e-TDR/e-STDR) link as shown below:-

4.      Select Fixed Deposit (e-TDR/e-STDR) option and click on Proceed button, as shown below:-

5.      Click on Close A/c Prematurely button, select your FD to be canceled, and click on Proceed button, as shown below:-

Once any Suspicious transaction is generated, the Credit Card company normally stops or put a hold on that transaction and requests the Card Owner to cross-check the authenticity. If the Suspicious transaction is not authorized by the Card Owner, the Credit Card gets blocked for Safety purpose and a new Card gets issued to avoid such mischievous frauds in the future.

1. Once a Suspicious Transaction has happened, you will receive an SMS or Email from SBI. Contents of which are:-

2. Login to SBI Credit Card Website or Mobile App using your Username and Password. For this article, we will use SBI Credit Card Mobile App to perform the required steps.

3. As soon as you open the Mobile App, you will be shown the below screen. Make sure to check your Card details, Reason as Suspicious transaction, your correct Address. Click on SUBMIT button:-

4. You will get the confirmation Service Request No. once you submit the request. 


Now, click on REQUEST FOR A NEW CARD button to reissue a new Card:-

You need to use your registered mobile no. to send SMS to block your Credit Card.


Step to follow to block or hotlist SBI Credit Card using SMS :-


1. Through your registered Mobile No., send SMS to 5676791 in the following format :-

xxxx refers to the last 4 digits of your SBI or Tata Card number.

Let's say your Credit Card No. is 1111222233334444. You need to send SMS to 5676791 as -

BLOCK 4444

Congratulations!! You have successfully blocked your lost/stolen SBI Credit Card.

Please note, for every SMS request that you send to 5676791, there is a premium charge applicable. Bank will block your card, the moment they receive your card block request through SMS. Bank will also send you a confirmation SMS about the same. If you do not receive a confirmation SMS from Bank within 5 minutes of your request, please do not consider the card to have been blocked. Please call up SBI Credit Card helpline, and get your card blocked immediately in order to avoid any misuse.
